Capco Steel erects cupola atop new Charles
Street Jail project... |
 |
Eddie Wright (who fought a good fight to get
this assignment), Capco Steel, and our members teamed
up to erect a large cupola on top of the newly renovated Charles
Street Jail project in Boston's Charles Circle area,
adjacent to the Mass General Hospital. Thanks to LU 7's Ray Keefe
(who was part of the erection crew) and his wife
Patty
for taking the time to e-mail the pictures of this interesting job
to our attention.

Bi-Annual Apprenticeship Competition in St. Louis, MO... |
Proud union iron workers from
throughout the United States & Canada were flying their local union
colors at the BI-ANNUAL APPRENTICESHIP COMPETITION in St. Louis, MO.
General President Joe Hunt brought the competition back to
where it all started for him in Local 396. Working in conjunction
with Local 392, from East St. Louis, the two locals put on a first
class performance and thanks go out to both locals, as well as to

I received an E-mail from Warren Andrews'
son, Stephen. Because I was in St. Louis, I am just reading
it now, and I feel compelled to share it with you. It reads as
follows:
Jay, on Sept 19 I lost my dad, Warren. Proudest
Ironworker I ever knew. He had Alzheimer's. I remember about a
year or so ago, Tewksbury was trying to pass an article on
having a mall built 100% UNION. He attended all the selectman's
meetings and the town meetings. The article passed. Jay, my
father didn't know what those meetings were about, but he knew
they were for Local 7. He was old school - it's all he needed
to know. Stephen Andrews #1040243 (NOTE: You can
click on the link above (at the end of the "From" line)
to send Steve an E-mail.)

NOTE - Re: the
Election: To everyone, who
worked so hard on this election cycle, all I can say is
thank you, as you represented the Iron Workers with class
and dignity as usual. You also became the envy of every
politician in the area who did
NOT have
you in their corner - a direct result of your hard work.
While a (whole) lot of organizations
(continue to) run their mouth and make false claims about
their (alleged) effectiveness, (or hide in the corner when
it's time to step up), you people showed our
candidates what REAL support is all about. I couldn't be
more proud of your willingness to give of your time to the
larger cause, or of being the president of your Council.
Thank you, once again, from the bottom of my heart!
