REMINDER: Boston,
Lawrence, and Worcester area jobs shut down
two hours early for PRESIDENTIAL
ELECTION on November 4th...
|
 |
Pursuant to certain CBAs
within Local 7, there is a two hour
allowance for members, at no loss of pay,
for the purpose of voting on Tuesday,
November 4th. This agreement is applicable
on all jobs in the
Boston, Worcester
(former Local 57), and
Lawrence
(former Local 351) area.
The idea is to get
out and VOTE!
As we have carefully
illustrated via the website and in our
SPECIAL EDITION Political newsletter, in
three of the highest profile elections
we
are RECOMMENDING you cast a vote for
Barack Obama
for President of the United States;
Tom Allen
for US Senate in Maine (against the
incumbent); and
Jeanne Shaheen for US Senate in New
Hampshire (again, against the
incumbent)...
The US Senate races are
vital if we are going to pass the EMPLOYEE
FREE CHOICE ACT. Naturally, there are a
number of other important races and ballot
questions. For example, we are recommending
that
Massachusetts residents
VOTE NO on Questions 1 & 3...It's
your vote, we have researched the issues and
candidates. Please consider our
recommendations...

WALTHAM (WBZ) ―
One worker was killed and another
was critically hurt in a construction accident in Waltham
Friday morning.
A hydraulic lift collapsed and fell to the ground outside
the
AstraZeneca Research Center on Gatehouse Drive
around 11 a.m. Waltham police say the lift was not set up
properly. The workers fell 25 feet to the ground. They were
doing work on an expansion of the research center. Their
names have not been released. |
Many people have called in to see
if any members were involved in this unfortunate accident and
fatality.
No union iron workers were involved.
Because we well understand the effect of accidents of this nature,
please remember these workers and their families in your thoughts
and prayers...
