At left is Arny Krane, Joe Politano and Charly
Clifford. The picture was taken on a recent Local 7
Ironmen MC run to the top of Mt. Washington in NH
on Sunday, June 24th.
It is eight (8) miles to the summit, and while it was quite
warm on the ground, the temperature at the summit was 32
degrees and winds were 35 to 45 MPH - resulting in a wind
chill factor of approximately 19 degrees. The boys reported
back that there was: "No problem with the weather, we've
all bolted up in conditions worse than this!"... |

Local 7 Re-dedicates
its FALLEN MEMBER memorial...
Ed Long
Jr. and Joe McWilliams added...
Al Noseworthy remembered... |
 |
June
27th marked the annual rededication of Local 7s Fallen Members
memorial. As a reminder, architect Donald Tellalian designed
three columns, two standing upright, and the third hanging
diagonally and supported by the two upright members. The symbolism
is two members holding up a third Fallen member (see center
pictures above).
When it rains, the
resulting rust runs down the web into a channel, whereby it does not
mar the granite (note the vertical strip of rust just above the pink
flowers in the top-center picture above), yet it stains the
surrounding concrete. This rust symbolizes the tears of those of us
left behind to deal with the loss of a member and friend from an
on-the-job accident. Since our last re-dedication, we lost two more
brothers: Joe McWIlliams and Ed Long Jr. Joe and Eds
family members were present to see their names added to the rolls of
our dearly departed. Let us use this ceremony as a reminder of
how important it is to work safe each day, as in a perfect world, we
would never have to add another name to this memorial. Finally, if
you do not regularly attend union meetings, please take the time to
attend this one each year in memory of our fallen comrades. (4th
Wednesday of every June.)

RE: Al
Noseworthy (see plaque - above right)
"June 15, 1970,
probably began as just another day for Iron Workers Local 7 member
Albert B. Noseworthy of Atkins Street in Lynn, MA. Leaving his wife
Nina and their two children, ages 11 & 6, at home, he headed to work
at the Keystone Building, which was under construction at the corner
of High Street and Congress Street in Downtown Boston
There is an
old proverb: "You often meet your fate on the road you take to avoid
it." June 15, 1970 proved to be a fateful day whereby the inherent
danger of ironworking paralleled and ultimately trumped the innate
skills of young Al Noseworthy. It
was also Al's last day on earth
."
There is a lot
more to the Al Noseworthy story, as recently discovered by Local 7s
officers...
