Rally to expose Catholic Medical
Center's egregious construction policies... |
 |
Thanks to Local 7's Dave Paquette for pictures
of
an Building Trades rally at the Catholic Medical Center
to protest the policies they espouse. Hospitals must stop accepting
prices that reflect workers having to work without health insurance
coverage. If hospitals aren't going to monitor and force contractors
to PROVIDE (not offer, as the low wages they pay preclude workers
from purchasing) health insurance, then how do they expect anyone
else to do so? They must lead by example and stop cutting out
these benefits that are vital to society. Thanks to all the
members who took the time to show up...

National Training Fund
CERTIFIES Local 7's Apprentice Program for
five years... |
As first reported on February 28th, a recent meeting
and evaluation process took place at Local 7 where Frank Piccione and Ron
Redman (on behalf of the National Training Fund) spent time with
labor and management representatives and training director Neal
McKelligan to review each phase of their program.
We are happy to report that Neal was just informed
that Local 7's program has received the maximum Five (5) Year
Accreditation. This is testimony to a lot of hard work by a lot of
talented and diligent instructors, trustees, and JAC employees...
