160,000 Homeless Military Veterans?
How do decision makers in
Washington DC look in the mirror?

Local 361 (Brooklyn, NY) Business Manager/FS-T  Dick O’Kane  is a tireless advocate of legislation designed to assist homeless military Veterans.

BILL #HR5823 (HOMELESS VETERANS ASSISTANCE FUND)  is intended to incorporate a check-off box on the 1040 Federal Income Tax Form to assist these men and women upon their return from fighting for our country.

I was shocked when Dick told me there are almost 160,000 HOMELESS Veterans across the United States. This is a national disgrace! Last year, 141.5 million people filed taxes. 100% adherence to a three-dollar ($3) check-off could yield almost $500M to assist these Veterans (NOTE: You can’t be buying bumper stickers for your cars proclaiming you “Support our Troops” and then ignore a $3 PER YEAR pledge!). Nothing is going to happen, however, if you do not get your local congressional representative on board behind this legislation.

 (NOTE: Local 7’s
Steve Lynch, a Massachusetts Congressman,
 is co-sponsoring this legislation.)

Many of you already know who your Congressional Representative is and we need you to begin contacting them (in whatever manner you wish) and INSIST that they
SUPPORT HR5823 - Homeless Veterans Assistance Fund.
These HOMELESS Veterans are counting on US!

BELOW is an online link to find YOUR congressional representative
(All you need to know is your ZIP CODE and 4-digit extension)...
Do not delay!
Tell them to
“Support HR5823-The Homeless Veterans Assistance Fund”
