Local 7's Rafael Santana making great strides back in his battle against
Wegener's disease...

Thanks to all the prayers from within the District Council and beyond, Local 7's Rafael Santana is making a miraculous recovery after being ravaged by Wegener's disease, an insidious inflammation that damages important organs of the body by limiting blood flow to those organs and destroying normal tissue. Rafael's wife, Mary, has been ever-vigilant, and her prayers and those of Rafael's many family members, friends, and co-workers seem to have worked.

Although he still has a long way to go, he is able to converse on the phone and will soon be heading for a rehabilitation hospital to work towards gaining back his full strength. Special thanks go out to the Labor Guild, where Rafael is an executive board member. Their prayers and constant information updates were greatly appreciated.

UPDATED INFO: I spoke with Rafael's wife Mary this morning. Rafael is now at the Radius Specialty Hospital at 59 Townsend Street in Roxbury, MA. He is up walking and is making great strides. JH

Raf can now be reached at 617-989-8427
