three-piece suits, stood on the boardwalk outside the museum
watching a crane slowly hoist a white-washed steel I-beam into the
air. Mounted on the far left end of the beam was a diminutive ..."

thanks go out to the many people who are teaming up to assist people
in avoiding many of the egregious practices designed to shortchange
workers in a variety of industries. The website also contains JOB
TIPS AND ADVICE - IMMIGRATION DEBATE - VIP SALARY CHECKER - CHECK
YOUR PAY (VS. OTHERS IN YOUR INDUSTRY) - KNOW YOUR RIGHTS and

Orange County Choppers, of
the famed TV show featuring the Teutul family, was commissioned to
build an IRONWORKERS' Motorcycle for the convention. Mike Gaydos,
BM-FS/T of Local 417 in Newburgh, NY, whose local works with another
Teutul son at OCC's miscellaneous iron shop in 417's area, was
chosen to bring the motorcycle in to the hall. Mike encountered a
thunderous welcome and the bike was on display all week and will be
used at trade shows (and not ridden) throughout North America to
promote the Iron Workers Union and our industry...

 |
Thanks to Roy Coulombe for
forwarding pictures of American Legion Post 14's undefeated
(26-0) baseball team. After winning the championship, the players
took time to don tee-shirts for the "Rhode Island's for Jobs &
Tax Relief," an effort that has the backing of Local 37 and the
RI State Building Trades, of which LU37's BM Mike Ruggieri is
President. Roy's son, Tommy is #21 in the pictures and played
a pivotal role in Sunday's game when he got the game-winning base
hit off of a pitcher who is on his way to Duke University on a full
baseball scholarship. Congratulations Tommy and good luck at the
Regionals in Brockton, MA next week...
