Beware of
the
JURY DUTY SCAM |
 |
Local 7 BA/IA Tom Shea
passed on information regarding an alleged JURY DUTY SCAM,
whereby people are becoming unwilling victims of identity security
theft.
HOW'S IT WORK? People are called and told they missed jury duty.
Naturally, they say they never received the notice and the scammer
then attempts to retrieve confidential information to "straighten
out the matter."
The rule of thumb is NEVER give out your social security number or
other vital information (birth date; mother's maiden name or
birthday; etc.) over the phone. This scam has already succeeded in
parts of Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, Illinois, Pennsylvania,
Minnesota and Oregon. Let's not add any New England states to the
list!
ħħħħħħħ
Finally, Tom Shea is
urging all members to keep their newest address on file at the
union hall. Unlike the Jury Duty scammers, you can trust Tom!
(NOTE: This goes for all local unions within the council. Please
keep your latest information on file. It is in your best
interest. Thank you.)

Local 7 training director Neal
McKelligan brought his apprentice instructors, the Local 7
Collapse Team, and a representative from the Boston Fire Department
in to Local 7 this morning for a seminar by the Crosby Group,
Inc. Crosby's trainer and New England District Sales Manager
Brett Woodland (pictured above in yellow shirt) discussed the
company's various products, new products, and appropriate
applications of those products. Crosby equipment is prevalent
throughout our industry and it is important that the people we rely
on to disseminate information to our young apprentices, or whom we
ask to mobilize (in conjunction with entities such as the Boston
Fire Department) on a moment's notice in emergency situations, are
completely up-to-date on proper usage and possible availability of
superior and/or safer products.

Almost as if he is trying to set a new record for employing iron
workers and other tradesmen and women, Boston developer
Joe Fallon sealed
a $115M land deal that will hopefully lead to a construction ground
breaking next year. Development on this land could
exceed a billion dollars!
Fallon's company has been
instrumental in the new Westin Hotel
at the Convention Center, as well as the Park Lane
development down the street from the Convention Center.
We will keep our Boston members and their families
apprised should your presence be needed at future community meetings
