The Greening of Southie... |
 |
The "Greening of Southie"
is a full length documentary (by Wicked Delicate Films) about
The Macallen Building--Boston's first residential "green"
building--and the people who made it possible. As highlighted in
today's BOSTON HERALD (on page 27), the film will be shown at
9:30 this evening on The SUNDANCE Channel.
It will also be shown this weekend
in Somerville and Brookline as part of the INDEPENDENT FILM
FESTIVAL OF BOSTON. If you have COMCAST's ON DEMAND you can also
view it (I watched it last night and it is great). Playing a
prominent role is Local 7's Bobby Gottlich (above left). It
is an engrossing tale of a young, forward thinking developer, Tim
Pappas. In addition to proving his mettle when things got
tough during the construction due to the use of alternative
materials (i.e., bamboo floors), Tim and his crew pay great homage
to the men and women who worked on the building throughout the film
and in the credits afterwards...

Mohegan Tribe Signs PLA for $1 Billion
Expansion |
The Mohegan Tribe announced
Tuesday that a project labor agreement (PLA) has been signed
among the tribe, the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority,
and the New London-Norwich Building and Construction
Trades Council for the construction of a roughly $1
billion expansion project at the Mohegan Sun Casino
complex.
This is the first such agreement to be signed
relating to a project on sovereign land in the state... |
 |
Our brothers and sisters in
Connecticut (LU15) and Rhode Island (LU37) are preparing for another
$1BILLION windfall at MOHEGAN SUN. Thanks to the hard work of
LU15's Eddie Reilly and his fellow building trades'
representatives from Connecticut they secured a Project Labor
Agreement (PLA) on this new BILLION dollar expansion...
